Third Trimester Tests

During the third trimester, your blood tests may be done again. You may also have glucose testing at this time.

• If you are Rh negative, talk to your health care provider at 28 weeks about having a RhoGam injection. This medication prevents Rh antibodies from forming.

• If you are at risk, group B strep testing may be done. This test checks for a type of common bacteria. It is almost always harmless to adults. If it is found, you may be given antibiotics during labor and delivery. That way, group B strep will not harm your newborn.
